I’m currently working on an article about the negative impact of micro trends on our psyche, bank account, and planet. Because I’m so passionate about the topic, I want to shout it from the rooftop and get everyone I can to read it. How do I go about that? Well, shouting might not be the best approach. There’s something close, though: social media. Here are some mock posts that I’ve put together for a few social media platforms:

Caption: Raise your hand if you’ve ever been personally victimized by online shopping… yeah, my hand is up. If you find yourself in the same boat and want to overcome temptation, read my latest medium.com article here to see just how much online shopping SUCKS!
I chose this imagery for Instagram because most timelines are flooded with full pictures instead of graphics. By using an image with ample white space and icons, this separates my post from others and catches the scroller’s attention. The caption starts with a verb directed toward the reader to immediately connect them to the post and continue reading.

Caption: idk about you, but my hand is up. read my medium.com article here to free yourself from online shopping hell!!!
I don’t have an X/Twitter account, but I’ve looked over my friends’ shoulders enough to know that it’s meme central. By kicking things off with a casual image, it makes the article more approachable. I kept the caption short and informal to entice the scroller to click on the link provided and keep reading.

Caption: Micro trends and the ease of online shopping are polluting our planet, minds, and bank accounts. Click here to learn how, and free yourself from this dangerous habit!
Similar to Instagram, most posts I see on LinkedIn are full pictures instead of graphics. I chose a stark, simple font and white background to catch the attention of those scrolling through their old classmates’ endless career milestones (been there). The caption gives a quick explanation of what the article covers and a direct link to it.
I’ll use this blog as a social media post in itself:
